Sylvia Wolff Research Grant Fund

Goal: To foster research that will advance the treatment of atrial fibrillation

Awards: $50,000 for two years; 2-3 unique grants will be funded each year 

Eligibility: Preference will be given to junior faculty (MD, PhD, MS, or equivalent within five years of initial faculty appointment at assistant professor or instructor level) with a sponsoring mentor (associate professor or professor), but more advanced faculty can apply. 

Subject Areas: atrial fibrillation-related stroke, atrial fibrillation prevention, new diagnostic and monitoring technologies for heart rhythm disturbances, novel treatments for atrial arrhythmias, imaging. 

Application Requirements:

•           Lay summary and health impact 
•           Background, hypothesis and specific aims 
•           Methods • Research Plan 
•           Statistical Assessment Plan (SAP) 
•           Documentation of Good Research Practices Training 
•           Budget 
•           Future Plans - How this project is part of a larger goal and future funding options 
 

Application Review 

•           Accompanying letter of recommendation from Division or Department chief/chair 
•           Statement of support from research mentor 
•           Current CV (NU FSM format) of applicant 
•           Current NIH bio sketch of applicant and mentor(s) 
•           All applications are to be submitted by December 19, 2025
